To TAWUG:
; I recently purchased disks #3,4,5,6 from you as I did 7
5not feel I had any tips to offer.After receiving and ;
9perusing the tips on these disks(some of which were very <
:helpful to me)I looked over the templates,etc that I made >
<and use regularly for myself,and perhaps some other members :
8will find some use for them.On this disk are some of my 7
5formats.In case they are not obvious:a cassette tape <
:inventory form(use the same form for records);a household >
<inventory form;a data base for a high school alumni assoc;a ?
=sample of the inventory of my postage stamp collection(I use 6
4several variations of this,depending on the type of 6
4item,sheet,block,etc);checking account record,which 8
6automatically figures balance-perhaps I used too many 3
1divisions,this makes a large spreadsheet;list of 3
1stocks,etc,with formulas for automatic update of =
;percentages,etc.Each sample has report format included,and ?
=the stamp inventory has a search type report form that tells =
;me what stamps I need to look for to improve my quality of
centering,etc.=
; Also,a couple of tips that may be of use to someone:I =
;like to mark my disk envelopes so that a quick glance will 8
6help find certain items.This used to be a little more >
<trouble to print,but since getting Appleworks,I just make a =
;hard copy of the contents on each disk by asking for "add =
;files"or #2 of other activities,and cut that list out,from 5
3the disk volume line on down,scotch tape it to the =
;envelope,when needed to update,do it again and replace the
tape.?
= Another tip:I use an Apple IIe at my office and we have :
8a similar one at home,so my backup system consists of 2 ;
9copies of each file,one at each location.I used to carry >
<disks which needed updating for backup,home on weekends,but ?
=that scared me a bit,risking more than one disk in a car.Now <
:I have one disk I call Temporary Backup.All changed files 8
6are saved to this each day and only the one disk gets ?
=carried from one end to the other.As soon as the updates are ;
9transferred,I erase the temporary backup files and start
fresh the next time.:
8 If you want to pass any of this on,feel free to do >
<so,and if my efforts warrant a free disk you can give me #1
and 2.
